About the crime maps
The 2011 Lawrence Crime Maps do not account for all police reports filed. The incidents recorded in these maps are similar to what you will find reported on LJWorld.com and in our print edition. You'll find these incidents on the maps:
- Burglaries or thefts, only with a loss of $1,000 or more, unless there are unusual circumstances. To protect victims, we generally don't identify them by name.
- Assaults and batteries, generally if someone had to be treated at a hospital.
- Holdups and robberies.
- Homicides
- DUIs
