Jones and Volz
Joe and Nancy Jones of Lawrence, Kansas are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Nicole Jones, to Brandon Volz, son of Randy Volz and Susan Volz of Topeka, Kansas.
Nicole is a 2005 graduate of Lawrence High School. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry. Nicole is currently employed at Northwestern Mutual in Lawrence, Kansas.
Brandon is a 2006 graduate of Hayden High School. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. Brandon is currently employed at North College Café in Lawrence, Kansas.
The couple is planning an October 4, 2014 wedding in Lawrence.
Hunsinger and Simonson
George and Cheryl Hunsinger of Lawrence, Ks are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Lacey Jordan Hunsinger to Daniel Jacob Simonson son of Karen Simonson, Wakefield, Ks and Lawrence and Darlene Simonson, Clay Center, Ks. Lacey is a graduate of Lawrence High School and currently attends Johnson County Community College. Lacey works as a document management associate for PRA International. Daniel is a graduate of Wakefield High School and is an attendant of Kansas State University, studying operational
management. Daniel currently works at Ryan Transportation Services as a carrier operations team lead. Both the future bride and groom also volunteer as firefighters at Eudora City Fire Department. The couple plans to wed June 28, 2014 in Lawrence, Ks.
Come celebrate Donna and Mike Neuner’s fiftieth anniversary with an open house on Saturday, April 5, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, at Union Pacific Depot (no gifts, please)... The couple was married on April 4, 1964, at the Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Illinois They moved to Lawrence in 1973 where Mike attended graduate school. Since graduating in 1976, he has worked as an independent IT contractor. He retired in 2001. Donna spent 30 years with the Kansas University Alumni Association working with their travel program and class reunions. She retired in 2003. Since retirement, the couple has traveled to Alaska, Hawaii
and Central America.
Fredrickson and Nagengast
Kevin and Lisa Fredrickson of Lawrence are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Amanda Fredrickson, to Will Nagengast, son of Dan Nagengast and Lynn Byczynski, also of Lawrence. The future
bride and groom are 2007 graduates of Lawrence High School. She graduated from Bethel College in 2011 with a BS in Business Administration and minor in art, and is currently working as a marketing coordinator and graphic designer with Ogden Publications. He graduated from Bethel College in 2012 with a BA in History and is currently
working as a sales representative for The Stone Group West. The couple will be married on May 25, 2014 at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Gulick and Lisher
Kirk and Ruby Gulick of Iola, KS are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Darci to Brett Lisher, son of Robert and Diana Lisher of Lawrence.
Darci received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Emporia State University and a Master’s degree in Technology from Pittsburg State University. She is employed as a fourth grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary in Iola.
Brett received a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management with a minor in Business from the University of Kansas and a Master’s degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Emporia State University.
He is employed as an account manager with Cenex Harvest States in Overland Park, KS.
Darci is the granddaughter of Greg & Sally Gulick and Bonnie Kent & the late George Kent.
Brett is the grandson of Robert & Mary Kay Stephens and Melvin & Rebecca Lisher.
A wedding is planned for July 12, 2014 in Iola.
McGregor and Smith
Caroline Jardine McGregor and Darren William Smith, both of Washington, D.C., were married on November 10, 2013, at Woodend Nature Sanctuary in Chevy Chase, Md.
The bride, originally of Russellville, Ark., is the daughter of Jane Dickie McGregor and Alexander Bradford “Sandy” McGregor of Russellville. She is the granddaughter of the late John Adams Dickie and Dorothy Merkel Dickie of Hamden, Conn., and the late George Henry McGregor and Marion Jardine McGregor of Fairfax, Va. Caroline graduated from Wellesley College in 2001 with a bachelors degree and Columbia University in 2007 with a masters degree. She currently is employed at the U.S. Department of Energy.
The groom, originally of Lawrence, is the son of William Duane Smith and Darlene Bauer Smith of Boerne, Texas, and formerly of Lawrence. He is the grandson of Lena Patenaude Smith and the late Claude Harry Smith of Miltonvale, Kan., and Mabel Meyer Bauer and the late Martin Frederick Bauer of Garden City, Kan. Darren graduated from Lawrence High School in 1996, American University in Washington, D.C. in 2000 with a bachelors degree and Virginia Tech in Alexandria, Va., in 2006 with a masters degree. He is a transportation planning consultant and entrepreneur.
The wedding was officiated by the Rev. Amanda Poppei, Senior Clergy Leader at the Washington Ethical Society. Attending the bride were her sister Elizabeth McGregor Jacobides and friends Laurie Freeman, Margot Pollans, and Pavani Reddy. Groomsmen were friends John Swanson and Jonathan Rogers, the groom’s brother-in-law Mike Fincke, and the bride’s brother Kevin McGregor. Readers were the bride’s aunt Janet McGregor
and the groom’s sister Stephanie Fincke.
Family and friends celebrated the union at a reception at Woodend Sanctuary, and at a brunch the following day at the McLean, Va., home of Charles Ing and Janet McGregor, featuring an outdoor performance by the Nashville, Tenn., band The Farewell Drifters.
Taylor and Ortiz
Courtney Taylor and Logan Ortiz were united in marriage on June 22, 2013, at the Kansas State Gardens with Pastor Justin Jenkins officiating. The ceremony was followed by a reception at Prairie Woods Preserve in Manhattan, KS. The bride is the daughter of Dr. Mark and Cheri Taylor of Lawrence. The groom is the son of LTC Luis and Stacey Ortiz of Radford, VA. The couple will honeymoon in Europe this June and will reside in Dallas, TX. Logan currently works as an engineer for Bartlett & West and Courtney will graduate from K-State this May with a degree in Interior design.
