Moon

Eddie and Betty Sue Moon

Eddie and Betty Sue Moon, LaCygne, formerly of Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 2 at the home of their daughter, 2108 E. 29th St., Lawrence. The event will be hosted by their children.
Eddie Moon and Betty Sue Talley were married June 3, 1962, at the home of her parents.
The couple owned and operated Moon’s Radiator Service in Lawrence for 31 years. They were life long residents of Lawrence until they retired in 2001 and moved to LaCygne, where they still reside.
They have a son, Andy and wife Michelle; a daughter, Pam Wiggins and husband Charlie, all of Lawrence; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The couple request no gifts.

Dayleen and Wayne Baldridge

Dayleen and Wayne Baldridge, Findlay, Ohio, formerly of Lawrence and Eudora, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open reception, hosted by family and friends, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Findlay-based Upper Room.
The couple were married May 26, 1962, in Houston.
Wayne was a pastor in Kansas City, Kan., from 1973 to 1975, and in Lawrence, from 1975 to 1985. They lived in Eudora from 1978 to 1985. The couple met and graduated from Southern Bible College, formerly in Houston.
They have a son, Tim, Findlay, and a daughter, Jennifer Baldridge, Shawnee.

Dolores and Ron O’Neal

Ron and Dolores O’Neal, Lawrence, will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary on June 1.
The couple were married June 1, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Ron is retired from the Ford Motor company and keeps busy restoring and collecting antique tractors. Dolores is a retired bookkeeper and enjoys cooking, quilting and spending time with grandchildren.
They have two sons, Steve and wife Lori, Overland Park, and Brad and wife Kim, Katy, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Pam Nisely and Kevin Smith, both of Lawrence, were married April 28, 2012, at Big Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marshall Larson officiating.
The bride is the daughter of John and Marie Nisely, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of Howard and Freddonna Smith, Lecompton.
A reception followed at the church.
The bride is a 1975 graduate of Lawrence High School. She attended Kansas University and is employed at Walmart.
The groom is a 1977 graduate of Lawrence High. He graduated from Missouri Institute of Technology in 1979 and retired after 31 years of service from Honeywell Aerospace in 2011.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

Beth Newton and Adam Rankin, both of Hutchinson, were married Nov. 5, 2011, at Danforth Chapel at Kansas University with Judge Sally Pokorny officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Rick Newton and Julie Hoffman, both of Hutchinson.
The groom is the son of Frank and Sherri Rankin, Hutchinson.
Maid of honor was Melissa Newton. Best man was Matt Rankin. Bridesmaids were Kari Jackson and Elizabeth Rankin. Groomsmen were Nick Estrada and Jon Ko. Usher was Nate McKee.
A reception was given at the Adams Alumni Center.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of Nickerson High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from KU this May and is currently attending graduate school at KU.
The groom is a 2004 graduate of Hutchinson High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from KU in 2008 and is a designer at Engineered Air in De Soto.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

Robert and Julia Buchanan, Lawrence, along with Rodney and Colleen Young, Wichita, announce the engagement of their children, Brenna Buchanan, Lawrence, and Brandon Young, Wichita.
The future bride is a graduate of Baldwin High School. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture from Kansas University. She is the associate project director of the Center for Design Research on Aging at KU.
The future groom is a graduate of Maize High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Friends University and is a credit analyst at INTRUST Bank.
The couple plan a Sept. 15, 2012, wedding at Central Community Church in Wichita.

Kyle Wedel and Lisa Theno

Lisa Theno and Kyle Wedel, both of Oklahoma City, announce their engagement.
The bride is the daughter of Brenda Driver, Leavenworth, and the late Russell Theno. She is a 2001 graduate of Tonganoxie High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Washburn University in 2006 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree through the pediatric nurse practitioner program at the University of Oklahoma.
The groom is the son of Dennis and Debby Wedel, Lawrence. He is also a 2001 graduate of Tonganoxie High. He earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Kansas State University in 2006 and is a project architect at Elliott + Associates Architects in Oklahoma City.
The couple plan a July 21, 2012, wedding at Circle S Ranch in Lawrence.

Frank and Claudette Garen

Frank and Claudette Garen, Laramie, Wyo., formerly of Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 19.
Claudette J. Peters and Frank R. Garen, were married May 19, 1962, at Friends Church in Lawrence.
Frank graduated from Haskell Institute in 1960. He worked at Kansas University from 1966 to 1980, and at the University of Wyoming from 1980 until his retirement in 2004. He was a regional manager for Moose International in Colorado, Wyoming and western Nebraska from 2009 to 2012. Claudette graduated from Lawrence High School in 1961. She worked at Laramie’s Ivinson Memorial Hospital from 1982 until her retirement in 2001.
The couple have a daughter, Gail Garen, Laramie; a son, Barry, Lowell, Ark.; and two grandchildren.
