The future bride is a 2008 graduate of Free State High School and is a majoring in elementary education at Kansas State University.
The future groom is a 2006 graduate of Salina Central High School. He is an active duty soldier in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Riley and has had one deployment to Iraq.
The couple plan an Oct. 16, 2010, wedding at Unity Church of Lawrence.

The future bride earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Kansas University and is employed by the Association of Youth Services in Kansas City, Kan.
The future groom is the son of Steve and Darlene Leuthold, Lawrence. He earned a bachelor’s degree in information technology systems from Ottawa University in Overland Park and is employed by Douglas County.
The couple plan a Sept. 4, 2010, wedding at the Hindu Temple and Cultural Center in Shawnee.

Carl and Anita Abel, Eudora, along with Dr. R.W. and Maureen Meador, Medicine Lodge, announce the engagement of their children, Sarah Abel and Andrew Meador, both of Lawrence.
The future bride is a 2003 graduate of Eudora High School. She earned degrees in accounting and finance from Kansas University in 2007 and plans to complete a master’s degree in accounting at KU in December.
The future groom is also the son of the late Joan Ellen Meador. He is a 1999 graduate of Medicine Lodge High School, attended Fort Hays State University and KU and has worked in construction in Lawrence for nine years.
The couple plan a Sept. 18, 2010, wedding at Fall Leaf Farm in Linwood.

The future bride is a 2004 graduate of Wichita Heights High School and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kansas University in 2009. She is the payroll coordinator for Brandon Woods in Lawrence.
The future groom is the son of Harold and Diania Miller, Haysville. He is a 1998 graduate of Hutchinson High School and an assistant store manager for Sears in Lawrence.
The couple plan a January 2011 wedding in Lawrence.

Lauren Wilkinson and Nick Adams, both of Lawrence, were married June 6, 2009, at Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence, with the Rev. Peter Luckey officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mark and Terry Wilkinson, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of Butch and Judy Adams, Lawrence.
Maid of honor was Krista Wolfe. Best man was Paul Dillon. Bridesmaids were Lisa Wilkinson, Claire Wilkinson, Jane Morrissey, Julia McCarthy and Tiffany Hopkins. Groomsmen were Matt Heider, Matt Maigaard, Coleman File, Jamie Goodfriend and David Garcia. Program attendants were Malinda O’Hara and Morgan Cavcey. Guestbook attendant was Sarah Kozlen. Candlelighter was Hayley Worth. Ringbearer was Ryan Laird. Flower girl was Elsie Hopkins. Reader was Hank Booth. Ushers were Marc Mondi, Sam Villeareal, Jerrod Miller and Zach Greenlee.
A reception was given at SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Lawrence.
The bride is a 2001 graduate of Free State High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English and a teaching certification from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 2005, and plans to complete a master’s degree in instructional design and technology from Emporia State University in December. In May, she completed her fourth year of teaching English at FSHS, and is a part-time dietary aide at Brandon Woods.
The groom is a 1999 graduate of FSHS and an account executive for KTKA ABC.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

Ashley DaVatz, Lawrence, and Jamie VanMeter, Oskaloosa, were married May 29, 2010, at Shawnee Lake in Topeka, with Danny Belisle officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Terry and Teresa DaVatz, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of Jay VanMeter, Lawrence, and Debra Mood, Westland, Mich.
Maid of honor was Amber Cersovsky. Best man was Roland Haslett. Bridesmaids were Amber DaVatz, Heather Rothwell, Deirdre Gastineau, Michelle Cox and Justice VanMeter. Groomsmen were Ricky VanMeter, Parker DaVatz, Ronnie Coffman, Matt Wiedeman and Isaak VanMeter.
A reception was given at the Eagles Lodge in Lawrence.
The bride is a 2004 graduate of Perry-Lecompton High School, and the groom earned a general equivalency diploma. Both are packaging operators for Hallmark in Lawrence.
The couple reside in Lawrence.
Anniversary

Sherrill and George Catt
George and Sherrill Catt, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today. A family reunion is being planned with their children, grandchildren and in-laws at the Lake of the Ozarks.
The couple were married June 19, 1960, in Augusta.
They came to Lawrence in 1963 after graduating from the University of Wichita. George was employed as the city hall and general assignment reporter at the Lawrence Journal-World from 1963 to 1965. He then attended Kansas University law school, graduating in 1968. He served as the municipal judge for the City of Lawrence for 26 years and retired in 1998. He is now in private law practice in Lawrence.
Sherrill managed Stouffer Place married student housing at KU. She earned a master’s degree from KU, and worked as Title 1 math coordinator for USD 497 for 25 years. She now serves as a supervisor of volunteers for Douglas County CASA.
They have two daughters, Cristi Catt and husband Jim Loutzenhiser, Cambridge, Mass., and Carrie Catt and husband Dustin Krone, Florence, Ariz.; a son, Tim and wife Mary Ann, Shawnee; and five grandchildren, Katy and Peter Loutzenhiser, Kendall and Hayden Krone, and Joshua Catt.

Craig and Debbie Maley, Eudora, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday.
The couple were married June 20, 1970, in Colby. They have lived in Eudora for the past 13 years.
They have two daughters, Carice Riemann and husband Gilbert, and Nichole Counts and husband C. Garrett; and two grandchildren, Kaya and Brody Riemann.

The future groom is the son of Rhonda Hensley, Cedar Hill, Texas. He is a 2004 graduate of Midlothian (Texas) High School and a 2009 graduate of Northern Arizona University. He is an assistant men’s basketball coach at Northern Arizona University.

The future bride is the daughter of Scott and Diane Hastings, Flower Mound, Texas. She is a 2001 graduate of Edward S. Marcus High School in Flower Mound and is studying exercise science pre-physical therapy at Kansas University. She is a self-employed massage therapist at Warrender Physical Therapy in Lawrence.
The future groom is the son of Rick and Susan Lewis, Dallas. He is a 2004 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas. He earned a math degree from KU and a teaching certification from the the UKanTeach program in May and plans to teach in the fall.
The couple plan a June 27, 2010, wedding at Abe & Jake’s Landing in Lawrence.

The future groom is a 2006 graduate of Perry-Lecompton High School. He plans to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in education with an emphasis in English from ESU in spring 2011. He is a manager at Reeble’s Country Mart in Emporia.
