The future bride is a 1998 graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned an associate’s degree from Coffeyville Community College in 2000, and a bachelor’s degree in human services, with an emphasis in families and children, from Ottawa University in 2002. She is the scheduling coordinator at Growing Smiles Pediatric Dentistry in Lawrence.
The future groom is the son of Larry and Judy Hastings, Parsons, and Sharon and Gary Baldwin, Chanute. He is a 1998 graduate of Parsons High School and earned an automotive technology certificate from the Universal Technical Institute in Houston in 2001. He is a customer service manager at Dale Willey Automotive in Lawrence.
The couple plan a Nov. 14, 2009, wedding at Stony Point Hall in Baldwin City.
Thomas and King
Chuck and Susan Thomas announce the engagement of their son, Micah Thomas, all of Lawrence, to Jessica King, Blue Springs, Mo.
The future bride is the daughter of Mike and Vicki King, Blue Springs, Mo. She is a 2004 graduate of Blue Springs High School and a 2009 graduate of Rockhurst University and Research College of Nursing. She is a registered nurse at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.
The future groom is a 2003 graduate of Lawrence High School and earned an accounting degree from Kansas University in 2007. He is a camp director for Youthfront Inc., Kansas City, Kan.
The couple plan a Nov. 14, 2009, wedding at Jacob’s Well Church in Kansas City, Mo.
Mike and Kathy Wortman, Lincoln, Neb., along with Gene and Carol Allton, Hutchinson, announce the engagement of their children, Carrie Wortman and Steve Allton, both of Lawrence.
The future bride is a graduate of Hutchinson High School, Kansas State University and Kansas University’s School of Law. She is a research attorney for the Kansas Court of Appeals in Topeka.
The future groom is a graduate of Buhler High School, KU and the KU School of Law. He is a staff attorney for Legal Services for Students at the university.
The couple plan an Oct. 31, 2009, wedding at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence.
Margaret and Harold Jones observed their 60th wedding anniversary Friday.
The couple were married Sept. 25, 1949, at the First Methodist Church in Osage City.
Margaret is a graduate of Baker University. After serving with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II, Harold attended and graduated from Kansas University. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Redfield, S.D., and eventually owned the weekly newspapers at Redfield and Webster. They retired in 1980 and moved to Lawrence on Nov. 1, 1990.
They have a daughter, Lynette Eastwold and husband Paul, St. Paul, Minn.; a son, Steven and wife Mary, Summit, N.J.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
All members of the family gathered at their son and daughter-in-law’s home on Lake George, N.Y., to celebrate the anniversary from June 25 to 30.
Larry and Carol Tripp, Lawrence, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday with family.
The couple were married on Sept. 27, 1969, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence.
Larry retired from U.S. Bank after 36 years of service. Carol drove a school bus for the Lawrence School District and worked in the dental field until joining her husband in retirement.
The couple have four children and six grandchildren.

The bride is the daughter of James and Belinda Rehmer, Eudora.
The groom is the son of Joseph and Beth Greer, Leawood.

The groom is a 2001 graduate of Blue Valley North High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Kansas University.
The couple moved to South Korea to teach elementary school at Bucheon Poly School.

The couple reside in Manhattan.
