Diane Catherine Riat and Bryan Cody Fishburn, both of rural Douglas County, announce their engagement. The future bride is the daughter of Douglas Riat and Ann Riat, both of Lawrence. She is a 2004 graduate of Lawrence High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from Kansas State University in 2008. She is a crop service specialist for Great American Insurance. The future groom is the son of Allen and SanDe Fishburn, Lawrence. He is a 2003 graduate of Lawrence High and earned an associate in applied fire science degree from Hutchinson Community Col ege in 2005. He is employed at Rocking H Ranch. The couple plan a July 18, 2009, wedding at Stony Point Hall in Baldwin City.

The future bride is a 2000 graduate of Spring Hill High School and earned a nursing degree from Johnson County Community College in 2003. She is a registered nurse at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in the family birthing center and on the pediatric unit. The future groom is the son of Alan and Peggy Price, Emporia. He graduated from Olpe High School and from Flint Hills Technical College, both in 2002. He is a crane operator/heavy equipment operator for Wilkerson Maxwell in Kansas City, Kan. The couple plan a Sept. 19, 2009, wedding at Bethel Baptist Church in Emporia.

The bride is the daughter of John and Joy Lloyd, Pine Bluff, Ark., and Dicksie Lloyd, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Woody and Joy Hasley, De Soto. Maid of honor was Ellie Lloyd. Best man was Woody Hasley. Bridesmaids were Kelly Wilson, Megan Perry and Susie Makke. Groomsmen were Chris Heath, Josh McCandless and Derek Latimer. A reception followed at The Garden Room at Ozark Mountain. The bride is a 2001 graduate of Lawrence High School and is studying for a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Arkansas. The groom is a 1999 graduate of Springdale High School and is studying for a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from the University of Arkansas. He is employed by Hyatt Hotels. Epperson
Elmer “Mo” and Charlotte “Charlie” Epperson, Bella Vista, Ark., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 6 at 2265 N. 1137th Road in Eudora. The couple were married May 19, 1959, at the Terra Heights Baptist Church in Topeka. They lived in Topeka, before moving to Alma and later settled in Lawrence for 30 years. They retired to Bella Vista, Ark., in 2002. They have four sons, Alan, Topeka, Eric and wife Marge, Eudora, and Aron and Paul, both of Bella Vista, Ark.; and two grandchildren. A daughter Stacy Epperson preceded them in death.
