The bride is the daughter of Jim and Melissa Sears, Baldwin City.
The groom is the son of Bill and Cheryl Wilson, Vinland.
Maid of honor was Melissa Sears. Best man was Brad Wilson. Bridesmaids were Elise Rock, Holly Maygers, Brooke Fox, Kristen Alley, Kendyl Washburn and Minnie Guzman. Groomsmen were Brian Hodges, Bobby Gerry, Austin Bryan, Casey Nelson and Grant Catloth.
Ringbearer was Jacob Brewer. Flower girls were Claire Norris and Sadie Fox. Ushers were Brian Sears, Brandon Sterry, Brice Priestley and Brandon Davis. Programs attendants were Conner Alley, Matthew Pendry and Ryan Pendry.
A reception followed at Mildale Farm.
The bride is a 2006 graduate of Free State High School and plans to earn a professional sales degree with a minor in Spanish at Harding University in December.
The groom is a 2006 graduate of Baldwin High School, is an accounting major at Harding, and plans to graduate in May 2010.
The couple reside in Searcy, Ark.

The bride is the daughter of Brian and Linda Hollis, Wichita.
The groom is the son of Leslie and Patricia Bishop, Leoti.
Acoustic guitar and vocal music was performed by Tom Jacobs. Donna Pitman gave a reading titled “The Mystery of Destiny.”
A reception was given at the Springhill Suites Ballroom in Lawrence.
The bride is a graduate of Wichita Southeast High School and Kansas University. She is a social work specialist for the State of Kansas.
The groom is a graduate of Leoti High School and KU. He is a computer engineer at Meier’s Ready Mix in Topeka.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

The bride is the daughter of Gilbert and Christine Sauvage, Mâcon.
The groom is the son of C. Richard Robins and Catherine Hale Robins, Lawrence.
Best man was Robert Robins.
A reception was given at Château d’Aine à Azé in France.
The bride earned a doctorate from Université Lumière Lyon.
The groom is a 1997 graduate of Lawrence High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Macalester University and a master’s degree from Oregon State University, and plans to earn a doctorate from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 2010.
The couple reside in Lyon, France.

Dr. Gerald and Donna Carey, Blue Springs, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Christine Carey, to Evan William Durnal, both of Mission.
The future bride is a 2001 graduate of Blue Springs South High School and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2006 and 2007. She is an English teacher and coaches softball and basketball at the Freshman Center in Blue Springs.
The future groom is the son of Chet Durnal, Denver, and the late Betty Bullock. He is a 2001 graduate of Baldwin High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in molecular bioscience from Baker University in 2005, and is studying for a master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Central Missouri. He is a chemist at Midwest Research Institute in Kansas City, Mo.
The couple plan an Aug. 1, 2009, wedding in Kansas City, Mo.

The future bride is a 2003 graduate of Free State High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Washburn University in 2007. She is a registered nurse at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
The future groom is the son of Phil and Susan Clark, Overbrook, and Mary and Dan Hacker, Lecompton. He is a 2003 graduate of Lawrence High School and a 2004 graduate of the advanced diesel technology program at WyoTech in Laramie, Wyo. He is a field service diesel technician at Martin Tractor in Lawrence.
The couple plan a Sept. 19, 2009, wedding at Stony Point Hall in Baldwin City.

The future bride is the daughter of Lenora Brown, Lawrence, and the late Dale Duggins. She is a graduate of Free State High School and is studying for a hospitality degree with an emphasis in event planning.
The future groom is the son of Dailen and Sherry Downing, Lawrence. He is a graduate of Lawrence High School and plans to earn a degree in music.
The couple plan an Aug. 7, 2009, wedding at Mustard Seed Church in Lawrence.

Norman and Doris John

Norman and Doris John, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception, hosted by their daughters and grandchildren, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 1 at Southside Church of Christ, 1105 W. 25th St.
The couple were married Aug. 16, 1959, in Garden City.
Norman worked with Stephens Insurance and retired in 2007. He recently went back to work at DCI. Doris worked as a nurse in various doctors’ offices and at Brandon Woods. The couple have lived in Lawrence for 35 years.
They have two daughters, Cheryl Bell and Pam Robertson, both of Lawrence; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The couple requests no gifts.

Robert and Madeleine Schehrer

Robert and Madeleine Schehrer, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today with a dinner party hosted by their daughters.
The couple were married July 25, 1959, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Lawrence.
Robert is the retired senior partner of Schehrer, Bennett, & Lowenthal, CPAs, where he practiced public accounting for 33 years. He currently provides tax planning and financial services for a small group of clients, serves as a Eucharist minister at Corpus Christi Catholic Church and enjoys working on his farms in east central Kansas.
Madeleine has enjoyed showing horses and raising, showing and selling canaries. She began selling antiques in downtown Lawrence in 1996, and retired recently. She enjoys gardening, sewing and her annual trip to Disney World with her husband, children and grandchildren.
They have three daughters, Amy Byers and husband Tim, Overland Park; Elaine Randel and husband Randy, Shawnee; and Nancy Jones and husband Joe, Lawrence; and eight grandchildren.

Carl and Isabelle Schaake, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 1.
The couple were married in Miami, Okla.
Carl, a Lawrence native, is a retired farmer and Marine Corps veteran, serving in World War II. Isabelle, originally from Virginia, attended the School of Nursing at the University of Virginia. Since retiring, she has enjoyed volunteering, traveling and playing bridge.
They have a daughter, Sarah Leonhard and husband John, near Oskaloosa, and two grandchildren.

She is a 4-H agent for the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service in VanBuren, Ark.
The groom is a 2000 graduate of Joplin High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in poultry science with a minor in agriculture business in 2004 and a master’s degree in operations management in 2006, both from the University of Arkansas, and is a general production manager for Tyson Foods in Springdale, Ark.
The couple reside in Farmington, Ark.

The groom is a 1987 graduate of Perry-Lecompton High School and earned an associate degree from Dodge City Community College in 1990. He is the golf course superintendent of Alvamar Country Club.
