Krug and Stauffer
Louise Stauffer, Holland, Mich., and Nick Krug, St. Charles, Mo., were married June 6, 2009, at The Eldridge Hotel, with Michael Lynn, uncle of the bride, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Clay Stauffer and Barbara Griffin, Holland, Mich., and Susan Lynn and Brian Wolfe, Iola.
The groom is the son of Veronica Krug, St. Charles, Mo., and the late Bruce Krug.
Maid of honor was Kelly Schetzsle. Best man was Caleb Krug. Bridesmaids were Kelly Alexejun, Dana Bremner, Lindsay Metcalf and Corie Dugas. Groomsmen were Tim Stauffer, Aaron Stauffer, Thad Allender and Jake Harrell. Usher was John Nowak. Flower girls were Audrey Lynn, Maris Lynn and Sidney Thornton.
A reception followed at The Eldridge Hotel.
The bride graduated from West Ottawa High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and an master’s degree in creative writing, both from Kansas University. She will begin pursuing a doctorate in creative writing in August from KU and is a graduate teaching assistant at the university.
The groom graduated from Duchesne High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from KU, and is a photographer at the Lawrence Journal-World.
The couple reside in Lawrence.
Silva and Johnson
Kristi Silva, Los Alamos, N.M., and Jarrett Johnson, Lawrence, were married June 27, 2009, at La Posada de Santa Fe, Santa Fe, N.M., with Don Lucero officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Richard Silva, Albuquerque, N.M., and Diana Honnell, Los Alamos, N.M.
The groom is the son of Michael and Kathleen Johnson, Lawrence.
Best man was Eric Johnson. Groomsmen were Chris Johnson and Gabriel Silva. Bridesmaids were Sarah Snow, Julie Anderson, Angelique Saiz and Adrienne McFarland.
A reception followed at La Posada de Santa Fe.
The bride is a graduate of Los Alamos (N.M.) High School, Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and the University of Texas at Austin. She is studying for a doctorate in public health.
The groom is a graduate of Baldwin High School, Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo., and the University of Texas at Austin. He is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Max Planck Institute in Garching, Germany.
The couple reside in Munich, Germany.
Butell and Hunziker
Dominique Butell, Baldwin City, and Christopher Hunziker, Princeton, were married June 19, 2009, in an outdoor ceremony at the home of friends in Princeton, with Jack Murphy officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Steve and Colleen Butell, Baldwin City, and Linda Anderson, Baldwin City.
The groom is the son of Luke and Marcella Hunziker, Princeton, and Kim and Jay Tucker, Ottawa.
Matron of honor was Suzanne Gaut. Best man was Zach Wolfe. Bridesmaids were Ashley Butell-Smiley, Stephanie Welch, Brandi Vogel and Katie Wilkerson. Groomsmen were Billy Harris, Corey Tucker, Tyler Wiederholt and Casey Coates. Junior bridesmaid was Brooklyn Butell, daughter of the bride. Ushers were Shawn Butell, Chad Musick, Ben Harris, Derick Dryden, Aaron Nichols and Brett Callaghan.
A reception was given at Celebration Hall in Ottawa.

The groom is a graduate of Central Heights High School, in Richmond, and attended Fort Scott Community College.
The couple reside in rural Franklin County.
Ken and Rowena Pine, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary July 1. A dinner at the WeatherVane in Charleviox, Mich., was attended by relatives from Texas, Maryland, Illinois, Kansas and Michigan.
Ken Pine and Rowena Nehrbass were married Jan. 28, 1949, at Centenary Methodist Church in Lawrence.
After Ken’s combat service in Europe during World War II, he graduated from the School of Business at Kansas University. A few years with J.C. Penney were followed by 27 years with Met Life. His retirement jobs were with Mallott and Roach Hardware.
Rowena worked for First United Methodist Church, in Lawrence, for 33 years, in several capacities after attending Baker University and KU. In 1981, she was considered diaconal minister after completing seminary course work. Upon retiring from the church, she served as chaplain for Lawrence Presbyterian Manor for eight years.
The have one daughter, Penny Hemphill and husband Charles, Lawrence, and two grandchildren.
White and Heddy
Lyjah White, Oskaloosa, and Jason Heddy, Pensacola, Fla., announce their engagement.
The future bride is the daughter of Gary White, Oskaloosa, and Sandra White, Lawrence. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School and attended Dodge City Community College before entering the military as an air traffic controller. She plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in human resource management from Thomas Edison State College in December.
The future groom is the son of Joe and Jill Heddy, Pensacola. He graduated from Washington High School, in Pensacola, and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from University of West Florida. He is a senior contracting officer for the government at General Service Administration.

Claassen and Sacks

The future groom is the son of Sony Sacks, Newton, and the late Gregory Sacks. He is a 2003 graduate of Newton High and earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management from KU in 2007. He is studying for a Master of Business Administration degree from Baker University. He is the Internet sales manager at Crown Toyota and an assistant basketball coach at Haskell Indian Nations University, both in Lawrence.

Westerman and Larson
Lee and Kim Larson announce the engagement of their daughter, Elena Larson, all of Lindsborg, to Kyle Westerman, Clay Center.
The future bride is a 2004 graduate of Smoky Valley High School, in Lindsborg, and earned a sports management degree from Kansas University in 2008. She worked for KU Center for Research for three years and currently resides in Overland Park and is employed with Virtual Inventories Inc. and 24 Hour Fitness.
The future groom is the son of Dirk and Denette Westerman, Wakefield. He is a 2004 graduate of Wakefield High School and a May graduate of Fort Hays State University.
