The future groom is a 2002 graduate of Lawrence High and earned a bachelor’s degree in sports and exercise science at KU in 2007. He is a cardiac sonographer at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
The couple plan a Sept. 25, 2009, wedding at Danforth Chapel at KU.

The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Jan Darting, Baldwin City.
The groom is the son of Colleen Webb, Downs.
Maid of honor was DeAnna Schulz. Best man was Brett Doane. Bridesmaids were Jessica Darting, Andrea Gresnick and Amanda Sharples. Groomsmen were Bill Brohman, Dennis Vurnon and Jason Conn. Ushers were Chris Schulz and Dustin Darting. Flower girls were Hayden Darting, Alyssa Ward and Kymberle LeiVan. Ringbearers were Ty LaMar Darting, Tyson Palmer and Jace Hartman.
A reception was given at the Houston Street Ballroom in Manhattan.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Baldwin High School and a 2003 graduate of Emporia State University. She is a second-grade teacher at Central Elementary in Wamego.
The groom is a 1999 graduate of Downs High School and works as a landscape foreman for Kanscapes Inc. He is also employed at Wildcat Creek Golf and Fitness Center in Manhattan.
The couple reside in Manhattan.

Charles “Okie” and Jean Snedger, Lawrence, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with a family dinner.
Charles Ervin Snedger and Bonnie Jean Chapman were married Aug. 10, 1944, in Vallejo, Calif.
The couple met while Okie was in the U.S. Navy attending Kansas University. After World War II, they settled in Lawrence. They owned and operated Snedeger’s Coin Laundry for 22 years. Okie retired from the Kansas Public Service Gas Company in 1990. Jean had published and continues to work on family genealogy books.
The couple have two daughters, Sonnie Kemberling and husband Jerry, and Wendy Dalquest and husband Ron, all of Lawrence; a son Charles and wife Sarah, Baldwin City; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Phillip and Patricia Friedeman, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday. A marriage covenant renewal service will be followed by a buffet, hosted by their sons, for invited guests and family at Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence.
Phillip Friedeman and Patricia Hiss were married Aug. 9, 1959, at the First Congregational Church of Great Bend, with the Rev. Edward Brantz officiating.
Phillip graduated from Kansas University in 1959, Andover Newton Theological School in 1963, and Illoff School of Theology in 1976. He began phased retirement after 35 years, serving nine churches in six states. He currently serves as a director of aftercare for Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Patricia attended Doane College in 1955 and graduated from Emporia State University in 1958. She taught school for three years before becoming a full-time homemaker until moving to Lawrence where she was an associate with KU Endowment until 2001.
They have two sons, P. Shawn and wife Sheryl, Missoula, Mont., and Thad and wife Barbara, Pierre, S.D.

Edward and Rosemary Bradford, Tonganoxie, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Tonganoxie Community Historical Society.
Edward Bradford and Rosemary Sieben were married Oct. 29, 1949, in Easton.
The couple are 1949 graduates of Winchester High School. Edward worked at Behee’s Paint Store and was part owner of Bradford Powers. He was also the manager of Cook Paint in Leavenworth and Greeley, Colo., and later for Sherwin Williams in Denver. He retired in 1995. Rosemary was a bookkeeper for 16 years at Missouri Valley Steel in Leavenworth, before moving to Colorado in 1983. She retired in 1993.
They have a son, David, Centennial, Colo.; two daughters, Marylee Berry, McLouth, and Kim Bradford, Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The couple requests no gifts.

The couple were married Aug. 4, 1984, in Lawrence.
Richard graduated from Lawrence High School and has worked at Chaney Inc. for 25 years. Kathy graduated from Lawrence High and Emporia State University and has worked in the Office of Admissions and Scholarships at Kansas University for six years and at Wal-Mart for six months.
They have two sons, Tim Bruce and wife Ami, and Spence Chaney; a daughter, Richelle Chaney, all of Lawrence; and two grandchildren.
