Gary and Bertha Mae Campbell Watson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house reception from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on June 29 at South Park Recreation Center, 1141 Mass. Their children will host the event.
Gary Watson and Bertha Mae Campbell were married June 29, 1958, in Almena.
They have four children: Mark and Debbie Watson, Wausau, Wis.; Douglas and Sharon Waston, Lyndon; Cherrie and Mark Preut, Nortonville; and Tammy Waston, Lawrence.
They have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

Bride's attendant of honor was her brother, Tyler Lewis. Groom's attendant of honor was his sister, Jessica Chapman. Best man was Ryan Ludwig. Bridesmaids were Miriam Hillmer and Brooke Sherrard. Groomsman was Aaron Dale. Reader was Nicole Proulux. Vocalist was Lynnette (Valencia) Rempel. Ushers were Cameron Cooper and Ryan Dale. Guest attendant was Sara Steinben. Program attendant was Brooke Lowe. Bride's personal attendants were Kayla (Huffman) Altman and Kelsey Cooper.
A reception followed at Alvamar Country Club in Lawrence.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Lawrence High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and Spanish with a minor in international relations from Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo., in 2003. She spent a year in Puerto Rico with AmeriCorps VISTA doing grant writing and nonprofit management. She received a Juris Doctorate from Kansas University in May. She will be employed as a research attorney for the Kansas Court of Appeals, Topeka, in August.
The groom is a 1999 graduate of McPherson High School. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in industrial design from KU in 2003. He plans to graduate with a Professional Masters of Architecture degree from KU in 2009. He is a legal intern with 360 Architecture in Kansas City, Mo.
The couple reside in Lawrence.
