The future bride is a 1998 graduate of Maize High School in Wichita. She earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Baker University in 2002. She is majoring in physical therapy at the Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley campus in Kansas City, Mo.

The future groom is a 1997 graduate of Lawrence High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in history from Kansas University in 2003. He is employed in the project management and training department with the United States Department of Agriculture Farm Services Agency in Kansas City, Mo.

The couple plan a Sept. 13, 2008, wedding at Asbury United Methodist Church in Wichita.

Bonnie Kephart, Baldwin City, and Dan Shuck, Lawrence, were married June 28, 2008, at Danforth Chapel in Lawrence, with the Rev. Orrin Potter officiating.

The bride is the daughter of the late Frank and Lois Kirkland.

The groom is the son of Darrell and Frances Shuck, Baldwin City.

Bridesmaid was Donita Demersseman. Groomsmen were David Shuck and Doug Shuck.

A reception followed at the Wingert Building in Lawrence.

The bride is a 1979 graduate of Wellsville High School. She is employed with Baldwin Insurance Services in Baldwin City.

The groom is a 1980 graduate of Lawrence High School. He is employed with Doug's Trucking Equipment in Lawrence.

The couple reside in rural Lawrence.

Cari Houghton, Iowa City, Iowa, and Robert Everhart, Lawrence, were married May 31, 2008, at the South Park gazebo in Lawrence, with the Rev. Peter Luckey officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Steve and Leora Houghton, Iowa City.

The groom is the son of Joyce Everhart, Spokane, Wash., and the late Vern Everhart.

A reception followed at Liberty Hall in Lawrence.

The bride is a 1993 graduate of Iowa City High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry and education from the University of Northern Iowa. She earned a Master of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Iowa. She is a physical therapist at Kreider Rehabilitation Services at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

The groom is a 1991 graduate of Lawrence High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marine science and biology from the University of Miami and a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Kansas University. He is studying for a Master of Science degree in environmental engineering at KU. He is a graduate research assistant with the Kansas Biological Survey at KU.

The couple reside in Lawrence.

The bride is the daughter of Gary Fox, Fort Worth, Texas.

The groom is the son of Rolla and Mary Martin, Revere, Mo.

Maid of honor was Debra Datema. Best man was Loren Kloft. Bridesmaid was Paula Broxterman. Junior bridesmaid was Courtney Mannell, daughter of the bride. Groomsman was Wally Hayes. Junior groomsmen were Joshua Mannell and Christopher Mannell, sons of the bride. Ring bearers were Landon Sawyers and Hunter Sawyers. Flower girl was Kaelinn Christman. The bride is the daughter of Terry and Mary Bentley, Lawrence.

The groom is the son of Larry and Teresa Schrant, Hays.

Maid of honor was Karen Bentley. Best man was Tyler Schrant. Bridesmaids were Ellen Bentley and Laci Schrant. Groomsmen were Dan Bentley and Ben Schrant. The bride is a 2005 graduate of Lawrence High School. She plans to graduate with Bachelor of Arts degrees in math and secondary education from Benedictine College, Atchison, in December. She is a student-teacher at St. James Academy in Lenexa.

The groom is a 2002 graduate of Thomas More Prep-Marian in Hays. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Kansas University in 2007. He is an engineer with McAfee, Henderson Solutions Inc. in Lenexa.

The couple reside in Lenexa.

The future groom is a 1999 graduate of Marysville High School. He earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in history and English from UCM in 2004. He also earned a juris doctorate from KU's School of Law in 2007. He is a research attorney with the Kansas Court of Appeals in Topeka.

The couple plan a Nov. 1, 2008, wedding at Grace Episcopal Church in Liberty, Mo.

The future bride is also the daughter of the late Jerry Keller. She is a graduate of Chase County High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from Kansas University in 2002. She is the vice president of alumni relations at Pennington and Company in Lawrence.

The future groom is a graduate of South Kent Prep School in Connecticut. He attended Central Missouri State University and Johnson County Community College. He is the events manager for Screenland Theater in Kansas City, Mo.

The couple plan an Oct. 4, 2008, wedding in downtown Cottonwood Falls.

The future groom attended Colby High School. He is employed with Sun Creations Inc. in Lawrence.

The couple plan an April 18, 2009, wedding in Lawrence.

Anniversary

Shade and Shade

Doug and Ruby Shade

Doug and Ruby Shade, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday.

Ruby Sterlin and Doug Shade were married Aug. 24, 1958, at First Baptist Church in Scott City, with the Rev. Lloyd Griffith officiating.

Doug earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Kansas University. He worked for General Motors in Kansas City, Mo. and later for Gene Burnett at Burnett Instruments in Lawrence. In 1974, he purchased a Baskin-Robbins franchise for two stores in Lawrence and one store in Olathe. He also started Bum Steer Barbecue in Lawrence. He is now retired.

Ruby earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from KU. She taught school for six years in Lawrence and Overland Park. She has been the senior partners director at Commerce Bank in Lawrence for 14 years and plans travel, events and seminars for senior clients.

They have three children: Mark and Annelie Shade, Sitges, Spain; Susan and Mark Klopfenstein, Prairie Village; and Steve and Christina Shade, Singapore.

They have seven grandchildren.

A family trip to Spain is planned for 2009.

Dean and Joyce Jordan announce the engagement of their son, Michael Jordan, all of Lawrence, to Melody Keim, Mesquite, Texas. Melody is the daughter of Dr. Thomas and Nancy Keim, Mesquite, Texas.

The future bride is a 2005 graduate of Poteet High School in Mesquite. She is a senior at the University of North Texas in Denton. She is studying vocal music education and plans to graduate in May 2009.

The future groom is a 2005 graduate of Lawrence High School. He is also a senior at UNT. He is studying instrumental music education and plans to graduate in May 2009.

The couple plan a March 14, 2009, wedding at Reflections on Spring Creek in Plano, Texas.

The future bride is the daughter of Richard and Rhonda Rose, Lawrence, and Joyce Rose and Steve Lee, Lawrence. She is a 1991 graduate of Lawrence High School. She is an advertising and marketing assistant for CCC Inc.

The future groom is the son of Carlene Myers, Tonganoxie, and the late Larry Myers. He is a 1989 graduate of Tonganoxie High School. He is self-employed as a private home builder.

The couple plan a Sept. 19, 2008, wedding in Leavenworth and will renew their vows during their honeymoon to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, on a cruise ship in February 2009.
