Quisenberry

Calvin and Susan Quisenberry, Tonganoxie, celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary with a family dinner hosted by their children.
Calvin Quisenberry and Susan Harriman were married May 7, 1977, at Danforth Chapel, Kansas University.
The couple own and operate Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, and previously owned Village Floral, Tonganoxie, from 1994 to 2006.
Their children are Eric Quisenberry and wife Rachel, Eudora; Brian Quisenberry and fiancee Jessica Amayo, Lawrence; and Heather Quisenberry and fiance Chad Vukas, Tonganoxie.
They have one grandson and one stepgrandson-to-be.

Anniversary

Banks

James "Bud" and Rosalie Banks, rural Lecompton, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
James Banks and Rosalie Rogers were married May 12, 1957, in Lecompton.
They are graduates of Lecompton Rural High School. Bud served in the U.S. Air Force, worked for Penny's Ready Mix and retired after 36 years with FMC Corp., now ICL, in Lawrence. Rosalie attended Clark's Business School in Topeka and worked at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s plant in Topeka before becoming a homemaker.
They still operate a cow and calf operation on the family farm.
Their children are Becky Pekrul, Topeka; and Rhonda Banks, Gina Clement and James R. Banks Jr., all of Lecompton. They have six grandchildren.
A family celebration is planned for later this year.

Wedding

Unruh

Brooke Burgett and Matthew Unruh were married on Jan. 6, 2007, at First Christian Church in Topeka, with the Rev. Jim McCollough officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Michael and Brenda Burgett, Topeka. The groom is the son of Robert and Patricia Unruh, Sedgwick.
The maid of honor was Stephanie Dolbler. The best man was Craig Lang. The flower girl was Heidi Burns. The ring bearer was Cody Wood.
A reception was given at the Great Overland Station.
Brooke graduated from Seaman High School in Topeka and attended Allen County Community College. She is employed as an academic athletic certifier in the Office of the Registrar at Kansas University.
Matthew graduated from Burrton High School and KU. He is pursuing a master's degree in environmental science at KU and is employed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment's Bureau of Air and Radiation.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

Fike

Elizabeth Hickert and Tyler Fike were married on June 2, 2006, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence, with the Rev. John Schmeidler officiating.
The bride is the daughter of B.J. Hickert and Cheryl Hickert, both of Lawrence. The groom is the son of Joe and Janet Fike, Lawrence.
The maid of honor was Sarah Hickert. The best men were Ryan Fike and Joshua Fike.
Bridesmaids were Ann Leiker, Natasha Riggins, Andrea Crall, Anna Byler and Ashley Gawin. Groomsmen were Brandon Geil, John Meyer III, Scott Weber and Andrew Wright. Readers were Sarah Peterson, Shannon Halpin and Amanda Haas. The personal attendant was Erin Zirbel. The guestbook attendant was Brook Brutto. Candlelighters were Kasey Barton and Kate Nielsen. Program attendants were Madeline Miller and Alyssa Hickert.
A reception was given at Maceli's.
The couple graduated from Free State High School in 2001. Elizabeth graduated from Baker University in 2005. She is pursuing a law degree at Washburn University's School of Law.
Tyler graduated from Kansas State University in 2005. He is employed as an arborist at Ryan Lawn and Tree in Overland Park.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

DeMond

Ashley Kennyhertz and Marcus DeMond were married on Nov. 18, 2006, at Penthouse 1000 in Kansas City, Mo., with Stephen Billings officiating.
The bride is the daughter of John A. and Susanne Kennyhertz, Lenexa. The groom is the son of Gregory F. and Martha DeMond, Leawood.
The maid of honor was Danielle Daise. The matron of honor was Jill Wineinger. The best man was Chuck Moses.
Bridesmaids were Andrea Deschaine, Tresa Vogel, Carrie Dohogne and Lynn Bachman. Groomsmen were Ken Burnett, Brett Richter, Zach Moores, Rob Flynn and Johnny Kennyhertz.
Ushers were Todd Bachman, Mike Lang and Darryl Tamm. Flower girls were Cari and Jill Bachman. Guestbook attendants were Stephanie Hennecke and Lindsay Puett. The personal attendant was Farrah Staples.
A reception was given at Club 1000 in Kansas City, Mo.
Ashley graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in Shawnee and received a Bachelor of Science in business from Kansas University. She also received a Master of Business Administration from Baker University. She is employed as the MBA career coordinator at KU's School of Business.
Marcus graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village. He received a Bachelor of Science in business from KU. He is employed as a senior account executive at InkJet Inc.
The couple reside in Lawrence.

Anniversary

Landis

Armin and Louise Landis, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary May 11 with family. They also will be recognized at a reception after the 10 a.m. service Sunday at Heartland Community Church, 619 Vt.
Armin Landis and Louise Steele were married May 11, 1947, at Syracuse Baptist Church in Syracuse, Mo.
Armin is a lifelong resident of Lawrence. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1939 and received a Bachelor of Arts in business at Kansas University in 1943 and was a member of Navy ROTC. During World War II, he served for two years in the South Pacific as a lieutenant in the Navy. After the war, he worked at Trans World Airlines in Kansas City, where he met Louise.
Louise graduated from high school in Syracuse, attended Warrensburg State Teachers College, and taught school near home before moving to Kansas City in 1946 to work for TWA.
Shortly after the wedding they returned to Lawrence and purchased the Davis Paint Associate store. They operated the business for 37 years until retiring in 1983.
Their children are Armin Landis and wife Nancy, Oskaloosa; Alan Landis and wife Carol, Lawrence; and Mark Landis and wife Renee, Camdenton, Mo.
They have five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Anniversary

Miller

Vincent and Ruth Miller, Eudora, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with a family gathering on Sunday.
Vincent G. Miller and Ruth M. Whitton were married May 16, 1942, at the United Brethren Church in Kansas City, Kan.
Vincent served in the U.S. Army Air Corps after college and was a pilot during World War II. He then worked for Sunshine Biscuits Co. for many years as a route salesman. Before retirement, he also was a sales representative for Mutual of Omaha Insurance.
Ruth worked at Kaw Valley State Bank in Eudora for 20 years and retired as a vice president.
The couple have lived in Eudora since 1951.
They have three children: April Bascom, Marana, Ariz.; and David Miller and Karla Pierce, both of Eudora; and two grandchildren.

The future bride is originally from Johnson City, N.Y., and has lived in Lawrence since 1976. She is employed at the Lawrence Journal-World, and is the daughter of Morlais "Bud" and Dorothy Jenkins, Johnson City.
The future groom graduated from Lawrence High School and is employed by the U.S. Postal Service. He is the son of the late Dale and Leota Wheeler.

Matthew is a 1995 graduate of Lawrence High School. He is employed as a remodeling contractor in Lawrence.
