Don and Shirley Engel, Pomona, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today.
Shirley McCune and Donald Engel were married May 21, 1955, in Superior, Neb. They lived in Harvard, Neb., until 1976 when they moved to the Pomona area.
Don retired from Farmland Industries in 1996 after 37 years of service. Shirley worked at Harvard State Bank, Harvard, Neb., for 12 years and retired from Douglas County Bank in 1993 after 17 years of service.
The couple's children are: Jeanie and Don Engel Jr., Gibbon, Neb.; Jerry and Barb Engel, Pomona; Doug and Mary Engel, Joplin, Mo.; and Dennis and Brenda Engel, Kansas City, Mo. They also have nine grandchildren.
Their children will play host to a family celebration in June.
