James Mildren and Bethany Kenny

Bethany Kenny and James Mildren, both of Lawrence, announce their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Stephen and Jackie Kenny, Neosho, Mo. She is a graduate of Neosho High School. She received Bachelor of Science degrees in organizational communications and psychology. She is pursuing an education degree in the School of Psychology at Kansas University. She is a graduate teaching assistant for the School of Education at KU.

The future groom is the son of Mark and Lynda Mildren, West Plains, Mo. He graduated from Monett High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Southwest Missouri State University. He is an alumni service representative at Pennington and Co. in Lawrence.

The couple plan a May 28 wedding in Neosho, Mo.

Martin Reames and Nicole Grabow

Nicole Grabow, Lawrence, and Martin Reames, Washington, D.C., announce their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Stephen Grabow, Lawrence, and Eileen Williams, Baltimore.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sarah Lawrence College and a Master of Science degree from the Winterthur Art Conservation Program, Delaware. She is a postgraduate research fellow in objects conservation at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

The future groom is the son of Fred and Sherry Reames, Madison, Wis.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University and a Master of Science degree in computer sciences from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is a software engineer for TimesTen in Silicon Valley, Calif.

The couple plan a February wedding in Belize and an April reception in Lawrence.

Laura Gayler and Kyle Seelbach

Daniel and Donna Gayler, Edwardsville, Ill., announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Elizabeth Gayler, to Kyle Paul Seelbach, son of Kurt and Brenda Seelbach, Edwardsville, Ill.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Don and Gloria Bagby, Eudora; Lillie Gayler, Mountain View, Ark.; and the late Ira Gayler.

She is a 1999 graduate of Edwardsville High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of Illinois. She is employed by Fleishman Hillard International Communications in Chicago.

The future groom is the grandson of Paul and Phyllis DeWerff, Raymond, Ill.

He is a 1997 graduate of Edwardsville High School, a 2001 graduate of the University of Illinois and a 2004 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law. He is completing a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Marvin E. Aspen of the Northern District of Illinois and will join the law firm Kirkland and Ellis of Chicago in the fall.

The couple plan a June wedding at the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis.

Lisa Pinamonti Kress and Tim Kress

Lisa Pinamonti and Tim Kress, both of Lawrence, were married Nov. 27, 2004, at First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg with the Rev. Thomas Sims officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Bill and Carolyn Pinamonti, Pittsburg. The groom is the son of John and Pat Kress, Iola.

Matron of honor was Kourtney Misse. Best man was Mike Kress. Bridesmaids were Heather Eckstein, Gina Pinamonti, Christi Sands and Kristin Trendel. Groomsmen were Jason Gladfelter, Keith Gudenkauf, Derek Harth and Ryan Riveland.

Ushers were Dennis Kress, Brad Pinamonti, Brian Pinamonti and Matthew Pinamonti. Ring bearer was Brady Kress. Flower girls were Isabella Pinamonti, Sophia Pinamonti and Zoe Pinamonti.

Reader was Nicole Kress. Kelly Jo Karnes was personal attendant. Guest book and program attendants were Juli Nyquist, Timi Shamblin and Amy Shaw.

Cake table attendants were Holly Bohardt and Becky Twedt.

A dinner and dance reception followed the ceremony at Memorial Auditorium in Pittsburg.

The bride is employed at Kansas University. The groom is employed with Target Corp.

After a honeymoon to St. Lucia, the couple reside in Lawrence.

Michele Lynn Ward and Paul Thomas Ritzman, both of Lawrence, were married Aug. 21, 2004, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence with the Rev. Jonathan Jensen officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Walter and Darlene Ward, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Walter Ritzman, Estes Park, Colo., and the late Marlene Borton-Ritzman.

Matron of honor was Lisa Ward-Sullivan. Best man was Scott Gordee. Bridesmaids were Michelle Fales, Susan Duncan and Jennifer York. Groomsmen were Kevin Waner, Wayne Foster and Trent Grimes. Ushers were David Ritzman and John Sullivan. Flower girl was Alexa Gaumer. Ring bearer was Preston Ritzman. Candle lighters were Adam Fales and Fischer Almanza. Guest book attendants were Kay Almanza and Ellen Almanza.

A reception followed the ceremony at the Eagles Lodge in Lawrence.

The bride is a 1985 graduate of Lawrence High School and a 1997 graduate of Johnson County Community College. She is a registered dental hygienist at Legends Drive Dental Center in Lawrence.

The groom is a graduate of Larned High School. He owns Ritzman's Lawn Care.

The couple reside in Lawrence.

The bride-to-be is a Eudora High School graduate. She is studying interior design at Johnson County Community College. She is a supervisor at Sheplers Western Wear in Overland Park.

The future groom is a graduate of Tonganoxie High School and Pratt Community College. He is a service support representative for KC Bobcat in Olathe.

The couple plan a June 4 wedding at VFW Park in Tonganoxie.

Jack and Tanya Low, Tonganoxie, announce the engagement of their daughter, Ann Renee Low, to Corey Allen Lewis, son of Ted and Judy Lewis, Farmington Hills, Mich.

The future bride is a Tonganoxie High School graduate. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in human biology in 2000 from Kansas University.

The future groom received a Bachelor of Arts degree in human resources from Michigan State University in 2001.

They are both returned Peace Corps volunteers in Haiti.

The couple plan a July 16 wedding at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence.

Dale and Barbara Brecheisen, Wellsville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Friday.

They were married May 6, 1955.

Their children are Dianna Brecheisen, Berryton; Dale Lynn Brecheisen, Van Wert, Iowa; and Jeff Brecheisen, Baldwin.

They also have 6 grandchildren.

Dale and Barbara graduated from Baldwin High School and have resided in the Baldwin community. They have been raising and training quarter horses and thoroughbreds for racing since Dale's retirement as a construction engineer.

Don and Mary McDaniel

Don and Mary LeAnda McDaniel, De Soto, recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Mary LeAnda Kramer and Don McDaniel were married May 4, 1940, in Ottawa. They have lived in De Soto since the 1950s.

Don retired from Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in De Soto. Mary LeAnda retired from Intercollegiate Press in Merriam.

They have three sons, Jerry McDaniel, Ronnie McDaniel and Mac McDaniel, all of De Soto; a daughter, Donna Sieber, De Soto; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Carroll and Doris Ottinger

Carroll and Doris Ottinger, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at 3 p.m. today at Drury Place at Alvamar, 1510 St. Andrews Drive.

Carroll Ottinger and Doris Volkmann were married May 7, 1955, in Milwaukee, Wis.

Carroll served in the U.S. Air Force, was a firefighter and worked at the Sunflower Army Ammunition plant. He retired from working at a co-op after 28 years of service. Doris is a homemaker.

They have two daughters, Linda Ottinger, Kansas City, and Janet Foster, Lawrence; and two grandchildren.

Hazel and Harvey Rew

Harvey and Hazel Rew, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. May 15 in Building 1 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St.

Friends and family are invited to attend.

They were married May 16, 1955, in Ottawa.

They have lived in Lawrence since 1955. Harvey retired from Farmland Industries in 1991 after 37 years of service. Hazel retired from Hallmark Cards in 1994 after 25 years of service.

The reception will be given by their children Dan and Teresa Rew and Janet and Steve Enyart, all of Lawrence.

They also have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The couple request no gifts.

The future groom is a McPherson High School graduate. He attends KU and works at Alvamar Country Club.

The couple plan a June 11 wedding in McPherson.

Bill and Nancy Keel, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter, Liesel Keel, Lawrence, to Eric Buschelman, Edmond, Okla., son of Rick and Liz Buschelman, Edmond, Okla.

The bride-to-be is a 1999 graduate of Lawrence High School. She received Bachelor of Science degrees in math and education from Kansas University in 2003. She is a math teacher at Free State High School.

The future groom is a 2000 Edmond Memorial High School graduate. He plans to graduate this month with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from KU. He will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and be stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

The couple plan a June 3 wedding at St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center in Lawrence.
