They have lived in the Lawrence area since 1989 after living in many parts of the U.S. while either in the Air Force or under church appointment for the RLDS Community of Christ Church. Leon works at Hy-Vee Food Store, and Ardith is a licensed practical nurse at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
The couple's children are: Rebecca and Kevin Giles, Stillwater, Minn.; Phillip Curtis, Jeffrey Curtis and Randall Curtis, all of Lawrence; and Lianna and Tim Corteville, Chesterfield, Mo. They have five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
