Kim and George Norman, Osage City, announce the engagement of their daughter, Keri Jenkins, Osage City, to Christopher Silvers, Lawrence.

The bride-to-be also is the daughter of Darrell Jenkins, Osage City. She attended Lyndon High School. She is working in Topeka.

The future groom is the son of Marilyn Laymon, Minneapolis, Minn., and the late Gerald Silvers. He received his General Educational Development diploma. He is working in Hays.

The couple plan a Nov. 7 wedding in Osage City.

Anniversary

Nitcher

Keith and Hazel Nitcher, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a luncheon and a reception April 16 at First Baptist Church. Hosts were their children and grandchildren.

Keith Nitcher and Hazel Johnson were married April 18, 1945, at the home of the bride's parents in Pomona.

Keith served in the Army during World War II. He was comptroller at Kansas University and became university director of business and fiscal affairs in 1957. He retired in 1993. Hazel was a public school teacher.

The couple's children are: Charles and Sandra Savell, Overland Park; Bob and Jan Nitcher, Baldwin; John and Katy Nitcher, Lawrence; and Ron and Cindy Nitcher, Lawrence. They also have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Richard and Judith McCartney will celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary with a family barbecue April 30 in Perry.

Richard Lee McCartney and Judith Ann Coffman were married May 6, 1972, in Lawrence.

Richard is employed by Jayhawk Plumbing in Lawrence. Judith is a 1972 graduate of Lawrence High School. She is employed by the City of Lawrence.

They have a daughter, Angela Dick, Perry, and four grandchildren.

The bride-to-be received a Bachelor of Science degree in architectural engineering from Kansas University. She is a civil engineer at George Butler Associates in Lenexa.

The future groom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from KU. He is a civil engineer at George Butler Associates in Lenexa.

The couple plan an Aug. 13 wedding at Liberty Hall in Lawrence.

Roland Luke Jr. and Anna Luke, Haysville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Mae Luke, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., to Jacob Adam Anderson, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., son of Scott and April Anderson, West Des Moines, Iowa.

The bride-to-be is a 1999 graduate of Campus High School, Haysville. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Kansas University in 2004. She is a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.

The future groom is a 2001 graduate of Valley High School, West Des Moines, Iowa. He plans to graduate in June from the U.S. Air Force with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a commission into the Air Force as a second lieutenant.

The couple plan a July 16 wedding at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Dr. Charles Johnston, Omaha, Neb., and Leslie Thomas, Manhattan. She is a Manhattan High School graduate. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in social science from Kansas State University. She earned a master's degree in social science and culture from Baker University. She works for the state of Kansas as a research assistant with the Kansas University Juniper Gardens Children's Project in Kansas City, Kan.

The future groom is the son of Paul Zaman, Overland Park, and the late Carole Zaman.

He is a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School, Overland Park. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from KU. He works for the state of Kansas as a support group supervisor with America's Joblink Alliance in Topeka.

The couple plan a May 14 wedding at Danforth Chapel in Lawrence.

The future groom is a graduate of Lawrence High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Germanic languages and a master's degree in international studies from KU. He is employed in higher education administration.

The couple plan a July 23 wedding at the Danforth Chapel in Lawrence.

Don and Marjorie Ann Schick

Don and Marjorie Ann Schick, Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a social after church services April 10 at the Lone Star Church of the Brethren. Hosts were their family.

Donald Schick and Marjorie Ann Bond were married April 10, 1955, at the Lone Star Church of the Brethren.

Don served in the U.S. Air Force from February 1951 to October 1953. He was in the oil business for five years and then the auto parts business for 26 years. He is retired from the grocery business. Marjorie Ann is a homemaker.

The couple's children are Jerry Schick, Lawrence; and Larry and Kathy Schick, Tilden, Neb. They have four grandchildren.

Carol and Don Taylor

Don and Carol Taylor, Wauchula, Fla., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 30 at the Union Pacific Depot in Lawrence. Friends and family are invited.

They were married Jan. 3, 1955, in Eureka Springs, Ark.

They lived in Lawrence and the surrounding area from 1957 to 1996. Don worked at Dupont in Tecumseh from 1959 to 1987. He also worked for Anderson Rentals and the Lawrence Paper Co. Carol was a homemaker and worked at Allen Press and the Lawrence Holidome.

The future groom is a 1995 graduate of Keller High School in Keller, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering in 2000 from the University of Texas at Austin. He earned a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering in 2004 from the University of California, San Diego, where he is working on his doctorate. He is employed at Peregrine Semiconductor.
